The Cubicle Poster Show July 1, 2008- June 30, 2009
I decided to have a year long poster show in my cubicle at work. The only rule that I started with was that I had to totally change the posters every two weeks.
For the most part I collect posters that have some kind of Rhode Island connection. Either the concert was in RI, the band is from RI, or the artist is from RI. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part the posters I hung had some kind of RI connection.
The photos I am posting were not taken with a fancy camera under ideal light. Sometimes the photos don't show the real detail of the print, and for that I apologize to the artists.
Thanks, I hope you enjoy.

Recent Acquisitions

The first show I hung was made up of posters I had recently obtained. I attended the Dinogah and Pearl Jam concerts, got the Big D poster from a charity event, and got the AS220 poster at an art show at 5 Traverse Gallery in Providence.

DKM Ballpark Tour Series

This second exhibition is made up of Dropkick Murphys posters from their 2008 Summer Tour of all the Red Sox minor league ballparks. The Bosstones opened, but didn't make the poster. I went to the RI show and got the set there. I think these are still available on the DKM website.

Recent Acquisitions (pt2)

Exhibition 3 is made up of things I'd recently obtained. The connection between them is that the Budai poster is for a Lightning Bolt/ White Mice show and the other two prints are from Brian Chippendale who plays drums/ vocals for Lightning Bolt.

Pete Cardoso Shadow Exhibition

This show was a Pete Cardoso shadow exhibition. Pete had a 10-year retrospective of his prints at AS220, so I hung a bunch of his things I'd gotten over the years as a tribute. Pete has always been great to me as a collector and I really enjoy his work. For a long time in the 90's and early 2000's I would attend shows depending on whether Pete had done a poster or not.

Seripop/ Serigraphie Populaire

Seripop doesn't have a real direct Rhode Island connection- they are based in Montreal, Canada. They have had a few art shows in Rhode Island and their band AIDS Wolf has played Providence a few times.
For those who don't know, Seripop is two people, Chloe Lum and Yannick Desrenleau. I really love their posters and Chloe has always been really nice and sends me lots of great stuff.

Boxing Style Show

The 311, Tool, and Powerman 5k posters were all done by Jim Draper. I'm not sure who made the other two. All 5 are from Providence shows in the 90's.
This exhibition made me claustrophobic, something about these made the cubicle space small.

Michaela Colette Zacchilli (Mickey)

Micky started making posters at the AS220 print shop a few years ago I guess. She's quickly become the most prolific artist in town and it seems she has a new poster out every week or so, all hanging around town advertising shows. There are usually a few copies of her posters for sale at shows which seems to be the only way to get them. She does sell comics on her website:

Mighty Mighty Bosstones Hometown Throwdown Exhibit

I've been going to the Hometown Thrown for a really long time. After a hiatus they are back doing the Throwdown from Dec 26-31. This is a selection of Throwdown posters from over the years. I actually worked the merch booth selling the 2007 Red Sox themed poster done by Mike Martin at EngineHouse13. Pete Cardoso curated the series that year and he let me work the booth for one of the nights when he couldn't attend. Its the only time I've ever worked the merch booth at a show and I had a blast.

Lightning Bolt tour show.

Lightning Bolt is probably the most famous current Providence underground band. They were on tour in Fall 2008 in Europe and I picked up a few posters (from my cubicle) as they went.

This is from 2001, I have no idea who the artist is.

Bongout is the artist for this. I think this is their 3rd Lightning Bolt poster. The show was in Berlin, where Bongout is based.

Magic Lantern Series- All women of Providence artists

Magic Lantern Cinema is a film series in Providence that is held at the Cable Car Cinema. Each show has a theme and a silkscreen poster. The poster artists rotate around town so these are a great way to get a cross section of Prov. artists. The whole series is archived on the Magic Lantern Cinema website: http://www.magiclanterncinema.com/
This set of posters if from various Magic Lantern shows, with the theme being that all the artists are women.

Cubicle #18 John “The Mad Peck” Peck April 20, 2009- April 30, 2009

This show coincides with the Brown University Spring Weekend concert. These posters were done by John Peck (The Mad Peck) who was a Brown student in the late 60's. He did RI posters from about 1966-1971. John also drew comics for underground papers and wrote and drew comic music reviews for Creem Magazine in the 70's. These are reprints available at the Brown university bookstore.
