9:01: Jack's on the flight to Australia? Is it the beard? He's belligerent with the stewardess. This is followed by a mini-breakdown in what I assume is a rental car. Now suicidal, he's saved by the opportunity to rescue others.
(Mike already gets it, he claims. He is writing down his prediction on a post-it.)
Sayed assures Jack they're as ready as they can be and advises him to keep moving. Rose worries over Bernard. Jin tells Sun they have risk it if they're ever going to get home.
Evacuation is underway. Bernard, Sayed, and Jin are understaffed. 10 against 3 doesn't provide very good odds. Where are Charlie and Desmond?
9:11: Naomi just called Jack Moses and claims she needs to show him how to use the iphone in case somethiing happens to her. What not show everyone?
Charlie is getting the smackdown so he claims Juliette told him about the hatch. They need to call Ben. He spots the light and switch described by Desmond.
They call Ben. He sends Mikhail and has to admit he lied about the occupancy of the Looking Glass.
The Others army approaches the camp. Tents are booby-trapped and carnage ensues. I figured they would f--k it up somehow. Oh they did. Jin's been captured. Some other dude gets the jump on Sayed. Crap.
Meanwhile, the marching Losties expected three explosions and only heard two. They know something's gone bad. Will they help?
9:19: In the flashback, Jack's a hero. I guess he's not in Sydney. Why and to where was he flying on Oceanic? X-wife shows. She asks if he's still drinking. He says No. What were you doing?
"Can I have a ride home?"
I don't know what she said, but she's outta there, so chauffering Jack is out.
Back at the island, the evacuees want to go back to help. Jack insists they stick to the plan.
Charlie's interrogation continues and he tells them everything. "You need the code," she tells him. He says he doesn't need it.
Seven Others dead, but they remaining guys have all three Losties. "Shoot Quan," says Ben. Bernard fesses the trip to the radio tower and the chick with the iPhone. He gives up Karl, too. He will not watch anyone die if he can stop it.
(Mike's writing down another prediction. I don't have any except I hope to see Locke and Jacob emerge from the jungle, ideally on a polar bear.)
9:29: The Others are going to the temple(?) Richard tells Ben the group's breaking down. Ben's going on a solo trip. Alex wants to join him. He agrees. "You do want to see Karl again, don't you?"
Kate wants to rescue Sayed, Bernard and Jin. Sawyer disagrees. She plays the pregnant card. "Let's hope you're not."
Desmond wakes up to bullets from Mikhail and has no option but the flee to the underwater hatch. He pops up next to Charlie. "Go! Hide!" The chicks hear him ao Charlie pretends he's been singing. They smack him around some more.
9:38: Jack's a pill-popper. I would like him for this, if he weren't so sloppy about it. Power-struggle over the surgery. More hero bs.
Sawyer wants to ditch back and check on their army. Kate wants to go, too. Juliette voluteers to get them guns. Jackliette kissees on the mouth.
Charlie keeps singing. It's irritating to his guard. Chick wants to torture him with a spear gun. Mikhail materializes, asks about Desmond. Charlie asks why Ben's been lying about the underwater hatch so Mikhail radios Ben. BS about Jacob, a plea for trust and and then Ben orders the hit on Charlie.
Resentful Gasp.
They've cried wolf with the Charlie-dies plotline one too many times already. (Tangent: If desmond's visions are real and he tells Charlie something different
will happen, can he cause Charlie's death?)
Ben orders the hit on the two girls.
"How do I know you didn't say that to them?"
"You'd already be dead."
No guns.
"Why do you have to stop them?"
9:56: THERE'S LOCKE!
Gun? He's not going to...
OH MY F--KING GOD. WALT!
"Get out of the ditch, John. You have work to do."
Did Walt look older? (Is that Jacob?) Obviously he should, but I like to think the Lost writers planned for this better. I read somewhere Richard is from the Black Rock and that people on the island live forever but they can't have children.
10:04: Why are you sticking up for Sawyer?"
"Because I love you." WTF?
Flashback: Bearded Jack likes Nirvana. He's goes to the funeral of a friendless man. Who? Did he pop that pill? Whatever.
Danielle says she won't leave the island. There's Ben and Alex.
Danielle should be tweaking. Ben wants to pow-wow with Jack.
Mikhail asks the girls about the jamming equipment and the jammer. The chicks are nicely brainwashed. He shoots one but has to chase down the other. Desmond should appear soon. Speargun! Nice one, Des.
Time for the pow-wow.
10:12: Flashback: An episode of House? Embarrassing tantrum.
Ben's strategy is to undermine Naomi. Everyone will die if you call the boat. Give me the iphone. OK, let me radio home. We've got Sayed Bernard and Jin and we'll kill them if you don't give up the iphone.
Jack won't surrender. Three shots. Jack beats on Ben, but not enough to kill him.
Jack radios Tom to tell him Ben is no longer in charge. He's full of oaths and threats, but he hasn't even killed Ben, so it not credible. Is there any chance someone will finish Ben off after the commercial?
If Michael was around, he'd shoot Ben. Locke seems to have disappeared.
Charlie and Desmond are in control but they still need to convince Bunny. Is this Ben's childhood girlfriend?
The keypad code is music: good vibrations.
Jack hauls Ben back to the group. "Tie him up, he's coming with us."
Ben casually introduces Alex to her mother, Danielle!
Her first words to her daughter, "Will you help me tie him up?"
Jack needs an oxycotin. He tells her Bernard, Jin, and Sayed are dead.
"I had to let it happen."
"Why did you bring him back?"
"I want him to know he failed. Then I'll kill him."
10:28: Bernard, Jin and Sayed aren't dead yet.
Hurley shows in the bus! Sayed demonstrates mad skills. Only Tom is left, but Juliette's got him.
"OK. I give up."
Sawyer shoots him, anyway!
"That's for taking the kid off the raft."
Hurley: "Dude, he surrendered."
"I didn't believe him."
NICE.
Things are going a little too well, aren't they?
10:33: Flashback: Jack's stealing drugs and looking bad in front of the boss again. Jack's suicide attempt caused the car accident that made him a hero.
Hurley calls on the walkie talkie to say he saved everyone.
Where's Charlie?
Charlie gets Desmond on diving equipment. Good idea. Probably should get that shit set before you start hitting buttons. Something's happening.
Incoming Transmission.
Some lady's on the videophone. It's Penelope. She ain't working with Naomi. Was Ben telling the truth? Mikhails gone and he's blowing the hatch. Charlie locks Desmond out. It looks like he really is going to drown. Queue sad music. Charlie's last act is to write "Not Penny's boat," and then he dies.
Cut to Aaron crying. Naomi says to Claire, "Charlie just got us rescued."
The iphone has a signal.
10:47: (Mike says none of my predictions have come true yet.)
Where's Locke?
Again, isn't everything going too well?
Rousseau's message is still blocking the signal. Dig the radio tower. Inside Danielle shuts it down. Time to make the call, Skipper.
10:50: Ben's last stand. It's a mistake. "It's the begining of the end."
iPhone Connected.
Locke just knifed Naomi.
He'll even shoot the phone. Danielle gives Ben a nice smack. Locke promises to kill Jack if he answers the phone.
"Jack, you're not supposed to do this."
Someone's on the phone. Jack tells him about Naomi and that they're the survivers of Oceanic 815. Can you get our location? Sure can.
Locke just slinked away without explanation.
Flashback: Jack calls someone he has to beg not to hang up. Please meet me at the airport. It's WHO? Kate!
(Do you get it now? Mike asks.)
They have history. He mentions the funeral. "Why would I go?"
This is the future? It's all a flashforward!
(Mike snaps his fingers. Yup.)
Jack flies, hoping the plane will crash and he can get back?
"I'm sick of lying."
"I have to go. He's going to wondering where I am."
"We wern't supposed to leave. We have to go back Kate. We have to go back!"
So they got off the island and regret it?
(Mike's 1st post-it said Future Jack. He says the beard and drugs gave it away. The 2nd note said Lock will try to stop him. Damn, he's good!)
Future Jack said his father was drunk in the hospital.
What's up with that?
So, the rescue is real?
Who's funeral was that?
10:00: Just kill Charlie already. Kate's dead too. Jack can go. Sayed better not die.
Somebody's running.
Hi Ho, Hi Ho. Jackliette take everyone on a hike. Jack claims Juliette explained everything which roughly translates to one thing we already know, the Others like to watch pregnant women die.
Wait a minute. Here's Danielle and she's got a bomb. Jack's been planning a war. They know when the Others are coming and they're prepared to trap them. "We're going to blow them all to hell."
10:07: Charlie flashback? Lame. Just when the band declares itself a failure they have a hit. Back at the island, Naomi reports on Charlie's funeral. "Look on the bright side. you're not really dead."
10:10: Jackliette and Danielle work on the bombs but Sayed interrupts to ask that Danielle's 16 year transmission is jamming the pipes. Sanity! Juliette says dharma's got a jammer too, but Sayed has an idea where it is.
Desmond tells Charlie he had a vision of Claire boarding a helicopter. It won't happen unless Charlie dies. "This time you have to die."
(Boring, says Mike.)
10:16: Flashback Charlie is young and afraid of the water.
Desmond tells Charlie how he will die. Hit the switch in a hatch and you drown.
The Looking Glass is the underwater hatch. Sayed's plan to destroy to the jammer is a suicide mission. Charlie volunteers. Jack wants to put it off until the attack, pulls rank again. I hate him.
Rose and Bernard!
Sun tells Jin she had an ultrasound. Whatever.
Karl shows up to warn them the Others are ahead of schedule. "They're coming right now!" He should still be crazy, shouldn't he?
10:26: Ben arrives back from his trip with Locke. He returns the gun. "Jacob wants us to go now."
"John had an accident."
"We'll take ALL their women. Kill them."
It is Ben's daughter who sends Karl with the warning. He's been living in exile or something. He rats out Juliette.
"They know Karl, but thanks." Funny.
It is quickly decided that most should evacuate to the radio tower, Charlie needs to take that swim.
Charlie's flashback reminds us he and his brother were creepy junkies.
10:33: Charlie finishes the note I didn't bother mentioning.
Claire doesn't want Charlie to do this risky thing. He tells her not to worry. He says goodbye to Aaron. Not feeling it.
(My dog just snored at the tv.)
Charlie just enjoyed the island's magical he's-going-to-die-pity-sex-mojo, but it only got him to first base.
During the umteenth commercial I think, "This episode is not as good as last week's."
10:40: Charlie's making a list of happy moments.
"How long can you really hold your breath for?" Desmond asks.
Bernard and Rose squabble prettily.
Sayed wants Jack to go to the tower and let Sayed execute the war plan. "Lead them to the tower and take us all home." Good job playing on Jacks ridiculously enormous ego.
Hurley wants to go with Charlie. He doesn't want to go to the tower or blow things up. Charlie tells him he won't fit in the boat. Harsh, dude. Charlie chases after him and says 1-4-3.
They HAVE to kill him this week.
Previews for next week look suspiciously like last's year's season finale previews.
10:50: Hurley loiters around Claire. They've got Vincent but Charlie's ring has been left behind. So what.
Good thing Karl showed up with that boat. How did they plan to reach the underwater hatch without it?
Charlie gives his best moments list to Desmond to deliver to Claire.
Desmond suggests he's been having visions because he should save Charlie by going for the swim. Charlie knocks him out. (This should guarantee he'll die since there's no one to help him.)
(Random Thought: If I had an underwater hatch, I'd stock it with oxygen, wouldn't you?)
Charlie makes it in side the hatch and can breathe. We won't be surprised when he flicks the switch or when it ends before we know for sure he's died.
Surprise. There are guards. He doesn't die this episode either. Talk about stringing along a plotline.
Next week will be two hours of somebody better die.
10:01: Ben is born, but not on the island; Maybe at M. Night Shamaylan's Village. His mother died in childbirth.
Ben is sincerely worried the tape recorder's missing? I guess they didn't leave it for Locke on purpose.
10:08: Locke is delightfully pushy and demanding. "Take me to Jacob." Ben is possessive of the leader no one else has ever met. Another Wizard of Oz reference. Is Ben the man behind the curtain?
Flashback: Ben's dad doesn't like his job. Where did I see that uniform before?
10:12: Back at the beach, things are getting tense. Back at Other HQ, Mikhail shows up to tell them about Naomi. I guess this means she is not their plant. He urges them to get to the beach quickly. Locke does not want this to get in the way of meeting Jacob, so he beats the crap out of Mikhail. Will beating Mikhail make Naomi disappear? Doubtful, but it is enough to influence Ben to take the Jacob trip. Why is Locke so mad at Mikhail?
10:16: I have no idea where this episode is going.
10:18 Apparently Ben doesn't think the Mikhail beating was necessary. Locke insists it was. Ben's daughter inexplicably gives Locke a gun. (Why does Ben insist he was born on the island?)
Flashback: Dharma School Drill. The Hostiles are attacking. Are they seriously real?
Back at the beach, a haughty Kate reports Jack and Juliette have gone missing since she told them about Naomi. "Why did you tell them," Sayed wisely asks. I don't remember her answer, but I'm sure it was weak. Why is Kate such a loser now?
10:26: Just realized, quite late, Ben is walking without assistance. What's with this Richard guy? He's everywhere now?
10:27: Flashback Ben gets a gift from his girlfriend. "Now we never have to be apart?"
When were they apart?
Daddy's passed out on Dharma beer. He wakes and has harsh words for Ben: something like "It's hard to celebrate the day you killed your mother and now I'm stuck on this island because of you."
Ben runs into the woods chasing the ghost of Mommy (smoke monster?) and meets Richard, who is apparently a hostile. Ben wants to leave Dharma and join the hostiles. "It's not time yet, Benjamin." (No one at Dharma asks any questions about why they are Hostile.)
10:31: Ben and Locke continue their hike. Locke sniffs dirt. Is that gun powder?
Confrontation time on the beach. Jack is still belligerant, but he and Juliette reveal they are working together against Ben. Pow Wow to follow, we assume, but do not see.
Richard hasn't aged. Is this important or just another Reebocks-in-Ben-Hur-moment?
10:41: Ben and Locke arrive at Jacob's house. Ben drops some predictable "Are you sure, there's no going back" kind of lines so we get our anxiety up. Ben suggests that like Locke, Jacob hates technology. We enter an empty cabin. Ben does some good acting here, apparently crazy and arguing with his invisible leader. Locke is right there calling Bullshit the whole time. He walks out on the cheap drama and sends a blast of flashlight at the invisible man. Because we can't see anything, it seems like the invisible man has some telekentic powers but he may be just throwing shit around. He's pissed enough to unleash the whirlwind. Locke still isn't buying. Good for him.
10:50: Ben and Locke hike back. "We're not going the way we came," Locke accuses.
"I want to show you where I come from," Ben explains.
Flashback: Hurley's van is apparently Ben's and he used it to kill his father. Odd that he left it and walked home. By now, everyone at the Dharma condo complex has been killed. Richard offers to recover Ben's Dad's body, but Ben declines.
Welcome to the body pit. Why didn't they bury these people? They went to a lot of trouble burying the original Henry Gale, why not the dharma murders?
Ben just shot Locke. What did Jacob say? Locke clarifies, "He said, Help Me." Ben leave Locke to heal or die. It's anyone's guess.
Ben is a mass murderer. Best episode Yet.
10:00: Locke recap. He's reading something and ordering someone around. "Don't you know where we are?" Locke's dad asks.
10:02: Locke is invited to go away with the Others. Ben explains about the files and some other stuff I'm missing. That guy from Juliette's past is there. Ben tells Locke he should say bye to Kate?
10:03: Kate's irritable. She's sleeping with Sawyer but wants to leave. He offers to walk her back. He has to pee.
10:04: Hurley and Jin are on the beach. They are weird, suspicious of Sawyer (hiding the parachutist.) Sawyer pees. Locke shows up. Are we supposed to wonder if Locke's Dad is the original Sawyer and if so, will he recognize him? Unfortunately, these are not burning questions for me. I want to know why they're conneted, not how.
10:08: Locke has been working undercover and he claims he's captured Ben. Locke wants Sawyer to kill Ben. They've got files on all of us. Sawyer refuses. Locke leaves, Sawyer follows.
10:11: Flashback to the previous week of Locke with the Others. Ben says he's healing better since Locke arrived. Ben says Locke needs to resolve his conflict with his father and he has to committ to the island by killing his father. He learns that Juliette is working undercover.
10:15: Jack wants to know about the camping trip. Hurley, Desmond, Jin and Charlie are keeping the parachutist a secret. They can't trust Jack.
10:20: Locke asked Sawyer about the murder-suicide of his parents. Locke fills Sawyer in on the contents of his files. Locke admits at knifepoint that he can't kill someone. Sawyer insists he'll help him but not kill anyone. Locke says he'll change his mind.
10:22: Hurley asks Sayid if he can keep a secret. Sayid meets the parachutist, Naomi and learns she's part of a rescue team. She repeats the details of Flight 815: it was found in a crater near Bali, all are dead. Naomi was hired to find Desmond by Penelope. Sayed is skeptical. She shows him her iphone.
10:25: Flashback: Ben brings Locke to kill his father. Ben reminds Locke how much the old man deserves to die. The old man mouths off and Ben pops him. Is he dead? "He's not who we thought he was." Ben says to whoever. No idea what this means.
10:27: Locke and Sawyer arrive at the Black Rock where we're supposed to believe Ben has been imprisoned. Locke locks Sawyer in with the prisoner, who has a mask on. Looks like this episode is a little too predictable.
Locke will do anything to join a cult, except kill his father.
Are we even sure this guy is really his father? Isn't he just a con man?
10:33: Sayed, please make the radio work. He does just as Kate walks up. Sayed fills her in.
10:35: Rouseau just walked into the black rock! She's just there for dynamite, she tells Locke, over the banging and screaming of the imprisoned Sawyer. Locke reminds her dynamite is dangerous.
10:36: Richard (the guy who recruited Juliette) introduces himself to Locke. Dick says Ben set Locke up to fail. Locke needs to find his purpose and that can only happen if his father dies. He gives Locke the Sawyer file.
10:39: Did he just say "I raised my boys right?" Are Sawyer and Locke brothers? This would be interesting (unanticipated) if it were true, but it's not. The father says he was kidnapped, brought to the island, and sees his dead son Locke. He thinks they're all in hell.
10:40: Hey kids, it's con-man confession. Sawyer won't fall for this, will he? That will be so lame. Why should we believe Dick's story about Ben being threatened by Locke's miracle?
10:46: Ben is leaving Locke to exile with his father. He can't join the club unless he pays the intitation fee.
10:47: Sawyer figures out Locke's dad is his sawyer, pulls out his little note from season one.
10:48: Sawyer's dad mocks the letter, and Sawyer. He's trying to shame Sawyer into killing him. This seems rather stupid, but he reiterates the belief he's already dead. Sawyer chokes him. Locke opens the door.
10:51: Locke says Thanks. Is he really dead or is this another mostly dead situation?
10:54: Kate needs to tell Jack something and he acts like an ass. She lays it down. He keeps the dick up high.
10:56: Juliette says 'We should tell her." Jack says "Not yet." (Tell her there's a way off the island?)
Cut to Sawyer and Locke, wrapping up their murder adventure.
"Juliette is a mole. They're coming for our pregnant women." Despite the threat, Locke's leaving. He's not going to play spy this time, either. He's on his own path now. Whatever. Sawyer asks Locke if it's true his Papa really threw Locke out a window and made him a cripple. "Not anymore." Lame.
10:59: Next time on Lost: Ben is Wonka.
